Citrullus lanatus
This amazing orange-fleshed watermelon consistently delivers 25-pound, deliciously sweet and crisp fruits with pretty alternating dark and light green stripes on the skin. The orange color means it’s packed with beta carotene and vitamin c. Some say the flavor is distinctive too – a little hint of tropical fruit perhaps? Introduced by the Willhite Seed Company of Poolville, Texas (renowned for their many watermelon selections) in the early 1960s.
Orangeglo watermelons should be direct seeded in a location with full sun and well-draining soil after all danger of frost has passed and the soil has warmed. Fruits will mature in 90 to 100 days. 2 gram packet contains a minimum of 15 seeds.
