Beta vulgaris
ORGANIC. HEIRLOOM. Our most popular beet! A consistent producer for canning, juicing, pickling, or roasting, with uniform, 3-inch burgundy roots and bright green leaves. This old reliable heirloom was released in 1892 by D.M Ferry and Co., and has been trusted by gardeners and farmers ever since.
Detroit Dark Red beets can be direct seeded in the garden as soon as the soil is workable in spring, or in late summer for a fall harvest. They will produce the best roots in full sun, but can tolerate part shade. Roots are ready to harvest in about 55 days. 2 gram packet contains a minimum of 110 seeds.
